1/19/2021: Print Reserves now available (with some restrictions)
Print reserves are now available in the library. For the spring semester, all print reserves will be available as in-library use only and can be checked out for 3 hours at a time.
Search the Case Catalog for course reserve lists by course name. Just type CIA to find a list of CIA courses with print reserves. Click on your course name for a complete list of print reserves for that course. You can also ask a staff member at the circulation desk for help.
9/14/2020: Kindles now available for select course reserves ebooks!
Please see our Kindles for Course Reserves page for more information and a current list of titles available on these devices.
8/13/2020: The eReserves guide is here!
In lieu of our print course reserves, which we've suspended for the Fall 2020 semester, the library is now offering digital course reserves from a variety of content providers which can all be found at our new eReserves guide.
See the eReserves on myCIA tab above or go to https://my.cia.edu/ICS/Student/Library/eReserves.jnz and log in to access the guide now.
If you have any questions about accessing the guide, helping students use the guide, or adding your course materials to this guide, please email Jackie Lagunzad, the library's course reserves contact, at jhlagunzad@cia.edu.
7/23/2020: CIA Library will not offer physical course reserves services for the Fall 2020 semester.
Due to COVID-19 developments and related concerns surrounding equitable access to materials, the CIA Library will not offer physical course reserves services for the Fall 2020 semester. This decision was based on the results released by the REALM study on 7/20/2020. The library has also implemented a 4 day quarantine period for all returned or recently accessed physical materials. Please reach out to the library staff with any concerns or questions.
We encourage you to fully leverage our already established services, including scanning, electronic resources, electronic reserves, our instructional program, and research help. The library staff is prepared to help you to continue to provide all of the necessary resources to your students. Please know that as we continue our Fall 2020 preparations, we will be ensuring our students are aware of this development and their options for learning support.
Thank you so much for your understanding and collaboration as we continue to provide excellent service and offer as much accessibility as we can to support teaching and learning during this extraordinary time in higher education – while helping to ensure our community’s health and safety.
The CIA Library provides course reserve services for CIA degree-program classes at the request of individual CIA faculty. Please speak with Jackie Lagunzad, the library's course reserves contact, about any special requests.
Step 1:
Complete a library reserves request form for each course each semester you wish to have items on reserve. Please use our online reserves request form. They can also be emailed to Jackie Lagunzad.
Step 2:
Indicate your choice of loan period for each item on the list. Please refer to our Loan period options below for the loan periods offered. If a loan period is not noted, the IN-LIBRARY loan period will be used.
Step 3:
Submit the completed form as soon as possible in order for items to be available the first week of class. Lists are processed in the order they are received. Library staff will pull any library items and put them on the reserve shelf. Please bring in personal copies before they are put on reserve.
Options for loan periods are as follows:
IN-LIBRARY | May be used in the library for three hours. Use this for class texts and required reading assignments. | $1.00/hour overdue |
OVERNIGHT | May be checked out after 4 P.M. and returned the following morning. Depending on day borrowed, materials must be returned by 10 A.M. Mondays-Fridays or 2 P.M. Saturday and Sunday. Will be an IN-LIBRARY loan prior to 4 P.M. This option is best for supplemental materials. | $1.00/hour overdue |
ONE WEEK | May be checked out at any time during the day and is due in 7 days. | $10.00/day overdue |
If a loan period is not indicated on the form, the IN-LIBRARY loan period will be used.

As with all library circulation records, reserve records for individual patrons are confidential. We are not permitted to provide the names of anyone who has used reserve materials.
